Religions of Peace: ISLAM

Introduction

Apologists for Islam (the word translates as submission or surrender) claim that their religion is one of peace. There are moderate Muslims, and many eschew jihad (popularly translates as holy war. It was, originally used for a personal cleansing of the soul from anger and corruption), honor killings, and hatred. That view of forsaking war or violence is not in the Qur’an.

“We [believers] disown you [non-believers, including family] and what you worship besides Allah. We renounce you. Enmity and hate shall forever reign between us—until you believe in Allah alone” (Qur’an 60:4).
