Freedom of Religion: Fact and Fantasy

Freedom of religion is a centuries-old expression. In most cases freedom of religion does not exist. It is not accepted by SCOTUS or most courts or jurists. It is not enshrined in the nation, nor in separate states. At best it is a buzzword, but in reality freedom of religion is a fantasy that has enchained …

Mike Huckabee, Tim Scott: God is Hate

Mike Huckabee’s god of hate deliberately let 27 people die in Newtown, CT, because, the Baptist preacher said the USA closed the schools to his god–and god was seeking vengenance. He is followed by Tim Scott who would deny food or health care to anyone or his or her family if he or she was striking and has become the idol for the USA Tea Party. The hatred boiling over in the Republican Party chained to the NRA is rapidly moving against human rights and civil rights.

Hector Avalos and the Holocaust in the Bible and today: Israel, Inquisition, Luther, Hiter and what the Bible Says

People read scripture as if each story enabled them to obtain eternal life–but at what cost. A literal reading is enough to scare most people away from religion, yet pastors, priests, rabbis and others see the Old Testament as a guide for life: one filled with rape, pillage, and holocaust.

Rape, abortion, God, Bible, Tea Party Republicans and psychology

Richard Mourdock claims his god intends for women to be raped, abortion is not to be allowed for any reason–but this shows an advanced stage of nuerosis similar to that exhibited by the Taliban (theological students) in Afghanistan. What does the Bible say about this? and why does it appear in the Bible?

Freedom of Speech, Responsibility and Bloodshed

Freedom of speech comes with responsibility of what is said and whether or not it is true. Because of a biased movie (Innocence of Muslims), the world of Islam broke into flames, fanned by a Florida preacher and a former movie producer–neither gifted with languages nor knowledge of texts. Religion has always been the catalyst for wars, and religious leaders the butchers from the beginning of time to this day.

Charles Worley, Providence Road Baptist Church, and Leviticus 18:22

Charles Worley’s rant against LGBT people and his desire to establish a concentration camp where all LGBT could die has met with resistence, but not from members of the clergy. Few want to read Leviticus 18:22 as it was written and within context. Today’s evangelical clergy are identical to the evangelicals in the Third Reich.

Zombies, Matthew 27:52-53, Southern Baptists and reality

There are two verses in the Gospel of Matthew that are directed to tombs opening, dead are brought back to life waiting for Jesus. Today we call such phenomena “zombies” and there are theologians who discount their existence, but in the South Baptist group of seminaries, teachers, researchers, and students are told to accept their existence as the fulfillment of the prophecy of Jesus. The question is if this is an isolated case in theological history or one more plagiarism fitted into the Bible.

Serpent in the Garden

A serpent in a garden has been a common theme of world religions. Most see the serpent as a god offering wisdom to mortals. This is not the case in Genesis, but the serpent is created out of numerous older theologies, and for a special reason: changing the stories to create a unique tale to meet the writers’ goals.

Christmas, Jesus, December 25, and making merry

Christmas is considered a time of families being together, sharing drink, food, dance, and various pleasures–but this has never been the rule for all nor the fortune for everyone, as religions have held it captive, deprived it of its temporal joys, and denied the reality of peace and harmony.
