Hell: Interpretation, Psychology and History of an Idea

For centuries hell was cursed and used as a curse against those who did not agree with a rigid religious mistranslation of a single word. The modern-day Hell is Scandinavian in origin (first used in Iceland) and has no relationship to the word used in the Bible, Qur’an or other religious literature. It is the abuse of the word, its mistranslation and misinterpretation that has cost millions their lives and today is one of the roots of suicides among young teenagers in the USA and other “faith-based” nations. What can be done to stop this epidemic?

John of Patmos and the Final Battle: conspiracy and mental illness

John of Patmos is said to be the author of Revelation: the book of the End of Time. Many argue that he wrote it from having two dreams: a worldwide war, and the end of the world. It is not a unique story, nor are the characters within it from the Beast with seven heads (the goddess Tiamat) to the horsemen. This essay fleshes out the original essay on the Apocalypse: a nightmare, and looks closely at mistranslations that have occurred since the second century with every cult wanting its own Bible to defend its position, as with Jehovah’s Witnesses to suicide cults: Jonestown, Heaven’s Gate, and others. The real question is: was John of Patmos Island sane?

Apocalypse: 150,000 years of myths of End Times

As the economic well-being of any people plunges, starvation and unemployment skyrockets, many will seek out demigods and dictators or turn to religion for temporary euphora. Some will argue that bad times are the sign of End Times and an Apocalypse is near. Is the Apocalypse fact or fiction? Here is the judgment of history, texts, and scholars.

Genesis: Old legends and modern fantasies scrutinized

Genesis begins the contemporary Old Testament but was written after the Torah was composed as seen in its use of many laws from Leviticus and Deuteronomy, citations from older biblical texts as well as massive plagiarisms from the theologies of ancient Egypt, India, Akkadia, and throughout Mesopotamia. Far from Elohim being good, the true account shows a blood-thirsty pirate, enslaver, and mind-controller giving the early Habiru (Hebrews) little choice and stagnating their growth.

Christian terrorism: how evangelical fundamentalism destroys people and civilizations

Every time there is a terrorist action broadcast or printed, western people think it is done by Muslims. Statistics show that most terrorist attacks are done by non-Muslim people, with most taking place in the USA and India. How does the US military compare with the Christian paramilitary groups in North Ireland, India, Uganda, Nigeria and around the world?

Fourth Reich: USA Tea Party, Anders Behring Breivik, Evangelical Christian extremism and the death of Democracy

Anders Behring Breivik of Norway was strongly influenced by the Tea Party / GOP of the USA and Unabomber Theodore John Kaczynski, leading him to killing and wounding more than 90 people: the majority being children. Breivik claimed that he had to do it to restore God’s order on earth, where women were supposed to be subordinate to men, proclaiming himself to be a born-again evangelical Christian.

Seth, the Bible, Translations, Interpretations, and History

According to Genesis, Eve had three sons whom she gave names. After Cain killed Abel and was forced to flee, she was given Seth who continued to produce the mortal race, although he had but one son. The Seth story is from ancient Egypt and adapted worldwide. Knowing the ancient records makes sense out of the paucity of Biblical recognition of this man–who may have been Cain.

Cain and Able: from bad translations and interpretation to evangelical fundamentalist distortions

Cain has been for centuries portrayed as a murderer of his brother Abel–the latter considered a just and saintly man. The murder, some claim, is the result of their parents sin, and state that the story is Hebrew in origin. But were the Hebrews always in the lands of Palestine? What is the correct translation and interpretation of the original documents–few read by evangelical preachers or self-styled prophets?
