As the economic well-being of any people plunges, starvation and unemployment skyrockets, many will seek out demigods and dictators or turn to religion for temporary euphora. Some will argue that bad times are the sign of End Times and an Apocalypse is near. Is the Apocalypse fact or fiction? Here is the judgment of history, texts, and scholars.
The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) is identical, in every way, to the Taliban found in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Determined to dramatically change the USA "back into" a theocracy, the Apostles and Prophets of the NAR have anointed Rick Perry to become the next President of the USA. In addition to altering the US Constitution, Perry plans on Jesus returning from the sky to rule over the earth, with the Texas Governor at his right hand, so that evil is abolished, sex regulated, and laws changed to meet C. Peter Wagner's ontology..
Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, has never lost a political race. His advisors are very close friends. His goal is to privatize education, reign in spending, cut labor costs and rights. He claims he is following the word of God, and held a "national" prayer that was filled with those who grew rich teaching different message of salvation, the most notorious being the NAR and its goal for world conquest and the establishment of a theocracy after destroying democracy.
Pat Robertson issues prophecies every year: condemning unwed mothers, those who divorce, LGBT people, welfare recipients, Democrats, the US Supreme Court, Disney World, and liberals. He incorrectly cites his Bible, shows a total lack of exegetical training, and rants as if he were Bradlee Dean of Junkyard Prophets. While his vast fortune is not completely known, it may push $1 billion and he gained it by working closely with dictators, thieves and rapists, but few want to expose this man for who and what he is.
Sarah Palin argues that she represents the USA. She is roundly applauded by the Tea Party and heavily funded by the Koch Brothers. She wants to return the USA to its Christian roots and have laws passed based on the Bible and Ten Commandments. Does she represent the USA and mainstream America?
Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann are both seeking the presidency of the USA, cite USA history and science incorrectly, and lie at every convention or group they address.
Robert Vander Plaats of Iowa, with the support of pseudo-scientist Stephen Meyer of the Discovery Institute, seeks to destroy education in Iowa and follows the diktat of Martin Luther and Adolf Hitler in denying human rights and civil liberties. Evangelical extremists throughout Iowa have flocked to his cause to enshrine the Bible as the source of wisdom, to subordinate women in obedience to men, and has merged tactics with the Denver, IA KKK and neo-Nazis throughout the State of Iowa.
Deliberate or unintentional misuse of a language has and will continue to lead to wars, violence and misunderstanding. It is the responsibility of teachers of language to use the language correctly--not in current jargon, but in precise, clear, cogent, and coherent studies of that language.
While the teaching of Darwin’s theory of evolution still raises the blood pressure of USA Tea Bag Party Republicans/GOP, climate warming is now the monster of the moment. “Science is bunk” most Tea Baggers brag; and 74% of the GOP in the US Senate concur (http://blog.thenewstribune.com/letters/2011/04/11/gop-is-against-using-science-to-solve-problems/ and http://www.alternet.org/story/150340/ and http://blogs.alternet.org/speakeasy/2010/10/10/how-did-an-entire-political-party-decide-to-reject-climate-change-science/ on the economics of climate change and geopolitics, see: http://www.nationaljournal.com/columns/political-connections/for-energy-the-price-is-not-right-20110317?mrefid=site_search)...
Read MoreIgnorance in the USA is not “creeping along” but running backwards surpassing all scientific truths and realities in quest of the alma mater narcotic nipple of complacency and wishful thinking—and it is not just in the USA, it is a worldwide contagion. Ignorance breeds hatred and violence as seen in the twin evils of the Florida evangelical church that burned a Koran, to the Afghani zealots who murdered in cold blood UN peace keepers. As Stephen Pizzo wrote (03/24/2011): “For the nation that has, for a couple of centuries, been not only a beacon of freedom, but also a beacon of knowledge and science, Creeping Ignorance at the heart of our government threatens to turn us into a nation only Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and Ann Coulter, et al[.], could love: one big festival of stupidity...
