Iowa State Sen. Dennis Guth: A Study in Ignorance, Hypocrisy, Self-Loathing, and Lack of Education

On April 17, 2013, at the beginning of the Iowa Senate workday, the most junior Senator from Klemme, Dennis Guth, a man of the soil but without serious learning and no solid education beyond an initial degree in agriculture. He has no training in medical, psychological or psychiatric sciences, or in any of the social sciences.  Guth is void of any attachment to the rubrics of education outside of elementary agriculture that now is decades old. 

A freshman Senator, he has taken the stage to preach his private agenda, calling for the advantage of “points of personal privilege” to make horrific comments about the LGBT community.”¹” that he has no personal knowledge or nor any experience with.  Hammering at the Hitleresque provocations of Bob Vander Plaats who represents every vile thought of the religious right, Guth publicly exposes his total ignorance on human psychology, immunology and evolution of the mortal body. Describing utter nonsense that he tars as truth, Guth rambles as one of the Grand Inquisitors from the fifteenth century, a mark usually associated with mad men committed to institutions for the mentally challenged.  As if he were the Venerable York of Umberto Eco’s Name of the Rose, Guth puffs himself up like a marshmallow to blister how he feels that he and his family are threatened by a marginalized group of people in Iowa. 

Guth’s children have no traditional education.  He and his wife have little in common with the realities of the day having charged into the fantasy wastelands of corrupted theology, as seen in their activities at their evangelical church in Britt, Iowa. The victims of their sadistic sentences have hope only in ἐλεύσομαι δὲ ταχέως πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐὰν ὁ κύριος θελήσῃ καὶ γνώσομαι οὐ τὸν λόγον τῶν πεφυσιωμένων ἀλλὰ τὴν δύναμιν (1 Corinthians 4:19). 

Guth gurgles that he and his family have been hurt and how this pain will lead to the collapse of the USA in a manner similar to how past civilizations have fallen by what he describes as the “homosexual lifestyle.”  Demonstrating a total lack of literary understanding and historical education, Guth proceeded to misquote Gibbons and others who wrote on the decline and fall of various empires.  Guth attacked the selfishness of others for the decline of communities but without giving statistics, facts or any recognition of historical realities–in much the same way evangelical extremists and Roman Catholic clerics have mistranslated and misinterpreted the first twenty-three verses of Genesis 19.  This transmogrification and destruction of what was actually written shows how far truth in translations has plummeted in schools and language centers everywhere.

Guth concentrates on Genesis 19:1-23.  He ignores verses 34-35 (וַיְהִי מִמָּחֳרָת וַתֹּאמֶר הַבְּכִירָה אֶל־הַצְּעִירָה הֵן־שָׁכַבְתִּי אֶמֶשׁ אֶת־אָבִי נַשְׁקֶנּוּ יַיִן גַּם־הַלַּיְלָה וּבֹאִי שִׁכְבִי עִמֹּו וּנְחַיֶּה מֵאָבִינוּ זָרַע׃) through the rest of the Iraqi tale that wove its twisted erotic story into the Abrahamic account in the Torah.  This is not the case in the Books of the Prophets (what today is termed The Old Testament). 

There is no mention of Lot offering his daughters to be raped by the towns people much less by the city council fathers and other men who met in front of Lot’s house to “know”  (actually the word here translates as “register”) the messengers (not angels) who had crept into the city as would a foreign agent determined to destroy the established government.   The reason is simple: Genesis was the last book of the Torah to be written, as seen in Eve’s debate with the Serpent quoting scripture that had not be written.  Yet Guth and his evangelical extremists argue that Genesis was first since it starts with “In the beginning” (Genesis in Hebrew), but it was not until the fourth century BCE that it was so considered. Guth does not admit that Lot sent (the actual text reads he pushed them through the door the visitors were holding open while hiding behind it) his two daughters out to the townspeople to be gang raped.  Evangelical extremists in Christianity and Islam delight in portraying Lot as a prophet (he was not) and a good man (at getting drunk and aroused to penetrate his daughters: Genesis 19:33ff).

The homophobic reading of Guth is not found in The Books of the Prophets. The prophet Ezekiel attacked the selfishness of the people of Sodom (not their sex lives).  He did not claim that the people of Sodom wanted to have nor did they seek sexual sodomy/intercourse with the men.  Ezekiel states clearly, in his famous pronouncement (Ezekiel 16:49): הֶחֱזִיקָה׃ הִנֵּה־זֶה הָיָה עֲוֹן סְדֹם אֲחֹותֵךְ גָּאֹון שִׂבְעַת־לֶחֶם וְשַׁלְוַת הַשְׁקֵט הָיָה לָהּ וְלִבְנֹותֶיהָ וְיַד־עָנִי וְאֶבְיֹון לֹא  or as Jerome translated: ecce haec fuit iniquitas Sodomae sororis tuae superbia saturitas panis et abundantia et otium ipsius et filiarum eius et manum egeno et pauperi non porrigebant.“²” 

Guth is not alone wallowing in ignorance of human development, sexual identification, or even of the Bible he broadcasts he believes in.  Guth matches Iowa hate-mongers  and those least qualified to discuss or comment on the Bible:  Bob Vander Plaats and Charles Hurley (Hurley makes certain that everyone knows he is a “licensed attorney” as if to assuage his ego) who have the same antipathy as the Argentine pope (born in 1936 as Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the son of an Italian immigrant Mario José Bergoglio) and fellow illiterate who was responsible for the arrest and imprisonment of dissenting Franciscans, fellow Jesuits and other order and secular clerics who protested the dictatorship, impoverishment of the people, and the loss of basic human rights that millions suffered under the dictatorship. Bergoglio  supported the dictatorship, and like Pope Pius XII, did nothing of substance to oppose it or assist the oppressed.  His one contribution was to declare later that the dictatorship crafted “The Dirty War”. 

It was because of a mistranslation and basic biblical cultural ignorance of Luke 19:27 that reads: πλὴν τοὺς ἐχθρούς μου ἐκείνους, τοὺς μὴ θελήσαντάς με βασιλεῦσαι ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἀγάγετε ὧδε καὶ κατασφάξατε ἔμπροσθέν μου that the word κατασφάξατε  is read as “slay”, “execute” of “kill”.  It never meant that in the day the text was written or initially redacted, even under the Emperor Constantine who created the Christian Church in 325 CE.”³”  The original meaning of the word was understood in its day as: “condemn” for a civil offense–not sexual orientation. 

This mistranslation that has happily filtered through the evangelical extremists haunts such as the church of Keith Ratliff in West Des Moines, Iowa, and in the pulpits of Roman Catholicism in the USA has only served to strengthen the lunatic fringe of Christianinity: like Rick Perry’s NAR (New Apostolic Reformation) and Vander Plaats’ warped conception that the Jesus of the Constantine-approved gospel of Matthew provides for a warrior Jesus who would ride out of the “heavens” on a horse, defying gravity, and brandishing a naked sword to kill millions in a fantasy war known as Armageddon, in Matthew 10:34: Μὴ νομίσητε ὅτι ἦλθον βαλεῖν εἰρήνην ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν· οὐκ ἦλθον βαλεῖν εἰρήνην ἀλλὰ μάχαιραν.

Radical evangelicals from Uganda, Nigeria, to Des Moines, Iowa justify their proposed pogrom against the LGBT community, initiated by the Hitleresque Scott Lively and his minions of evil, as has Vander Plaats of Des Moines in his genocidic “jokes” about “smoking a queer”.  Vander Plaats  tendentiously  warped demonstration of total ignorance not only of the Bible but of the ancient pre-Jesusian languages used to write the Bible over four hundred years time before Eusebius was instructed to create the current bible. It shows only that Robert Vander Plaats and his mephistophelean mistress, Darla, would kill an LBGT if he or his wife would not be arrested and punished.  This error in translation, so common in contemporary schools of translations perpetuates myths and augments wars, as has assundered the peace within Iowa communities following Guth’s campaign against the LGBT community in Iowa.

Not only did Senator Guth dismiss the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community as a “lifestyle,” he then went on to say that it was “a lie.” “⁴” What Guth ignores is that his own lifestyle and “marriage” is a lie—as nowhere in the Bible nor in the early history of Constantine I’s “church” “⁵” is there a reference to marriage outside of a legal registry. 

Marriage does not become a “sacrament” until the dark, dastardly days of the self-abuser Peter Damian (best known for his tract on presumed sins of sodomy and other sexual acts he presumed were wrong, including seeing a member of the opposite gender in various stages of undress, intimate touching, masturbation, and embracing, that were encased in his book Gomorrah–but what is forgotten is that the book is condemning these “abuses” that Damian thought were common within the community of clergy and bishops of the church similar to the scandal that forced Benedict XVI to resign as pope in 2013) in the eleventh century. It was printed in 1051, but rejected by the Pope and the Christian community. 

Marriage was not recognized universally as a sacrament any more than homosexuality was condemned in the early community of chrestianos and christianos or was considered a sin.  No one believed marriage to be sacred or a sacrament–not even within the early Christian community–it was a registration of commitment and early Christian communities did marry same-sex couples.

Martin Luther in his German work, published at Wittenberg in 1530 under the title Von den Ehesachen, wrote on page 1: “No one indeed can deny that marriage is an external worldly thing, like clothes and food, house and home, subject to worldly authority, as shown by so many imperial laws governing it.” In an earlier work (the original edition of De captivitate Babylonica that I am fortunate to have in my private library) Luther wrote:

“Not only is the sacramental character of matrimony without foundation in Scripture; but the very traditions, which claim such sacredness for it, are a mere jest”.  Two pages further on the one-time Augustinian monk who ultimately married a nun, wrote: “Marriage may therefore be a figure of Christ and the Church; it is, however, no Divinely instituted sacrament, but the invention of men in the Church, arising from ignorance of the subject.”

Guth, like the majority of the Republicans in the House of the Iowa Legislature are monolingual and have at best a fleeting acquaintance with German or any other language, to further their or his/her xenophobia and hatred.

For Dennis Guth and his mentor (who is neither pastor, priest, nor theologian) Bob Vander Plaats (to whom Guth contributes time, money), the draconic distortions that quickly tremble from his parched throat gutted with loathing to defend such a fraud as the “spiritual nature” of marriage blatantly exposes the naked ignorance of the two men and their centers of organized hate that they euphamistically refer to as houses of worship and faith but lack any eleemosynary act or pledge. 

Guth never offers documentation to prove his theory.  Guth is like an aberrant insisting on the purity of thoughts that do not exist in provable format.  Guth is like a little child in a kindergarten that stamps his feet and demands to be believed even while he lies or has no concept of what he is saying that is a lie.

Martin Luther was not the only reformer to reject marriage as a sacrament, as nearly reformer from the Waldenese to Knox and beyond saw it as a papal invention to extract more money from the gullible believers in the empire’s invention of a place the Emperors called Christendom. Jean Calvin in his Institutions, IV, xix, 34, rejected the idea that marriage was a sacrament or even “holy.” Reading the one-time Frenchman who took over Geneva, Switzerland and turned it into a slave-camp theocracy where he murdered Miguel Servetus, the self-proclaimed pastor pushed people into perdition based on his own mistranslations of scripture taught at the schools he attended.

Calvin closely removed all the barriers imposed by latter day imposters importing prelapsarian innocence into a cult the gullible are drawn to like flies to dung voice by such evangelical extremists as James Dobson, Billy Graham, Keith Ratliff of Iowa, and other biblical illiterates. Calvin wrote: “Lastly, there is matrimony, which all [sic: Calvin is referring to his followers since obviously not all sects within the Christian fold, especially among those who had denied the papacy and primacy of the pope or the Vatican’s quest for increased enrichment] admit was instituted by God, though no one before the time of  [Pope] Gregory regarded it as a sacrament. What man in his sober senses could so regard it [marriage as a sacrament or a holy act commissioned by a god]? God’s ordinance is good and holy; so also are agriculture, architecture, shoemaking, hair-cutting legitimate ordinances of God, but they are not sacraments” (loc. cit.).

Mistress Maggie Gallagher grotesquely misquotes scripture from her lack of academic studies and void of biblical literacy as does the Bible belching Bryan Fischer, prennial pontificating joker James Dobson, theocrat Timothy Dolan, fanatical Francis George, the fraudulent Francis I and others who would be executors of those who abandoned “the faith”.  These are the USA version of mullahs and ayatollahs in radical Islam where the penalty for apostasy is death, but its roots are in Judaism and Christianity.”⁶”

The sole reference to the sacramental nature of marriage, first uttered at the Council of Trent, 1545-1562 (spawned in stealth to silence factions fighting for faith). In short, it was not made an article of faith until the dark days of the predatory Pope Leo XIII in his encyclical Arcanus (February 10, 1880).

In Arcanus, Leo XIII ascribed the historical importance of “marriage as a sacrament” by referring “To the teaching of the Apostles [they said nothing on marriage; all were single (their celibacy uncertain as prostitution was common) except Simon bar Jonas (Peter; the name changes only in Matthew 16:18, but its authenticity is question as it appears to be an insertion by a scribe to match the word for “rock” being the faith on which Jesus of the existing gospels bult his “church”–actually a community where “two or more are gathered in my name”–never a building devoted exclusively to worship: κἀγὼ δέ σοι λέγω ὅτι σὺ εἶ Πέτρος καὶ ἐπὶ ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ οἰκοδομήσω μου τὴν ἐκκλησίαν καὶ πύλαι ᾅδου οὐ κατισχύσουσιν αὐτῆς) who had a wife but seldom visited her (Luke 4:38).  The only other reference is by inference in 1 Corinthians 9:5, but no apostle is named and the text is ambiguous: μὴ οὐκ ἔχομεν ἐξουσίαν ἀδελφὴν γυναῖκα περιάγειν ὡς καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ ἀπόστολοι καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ τοῦ κυρίου καὶ Κηφᾶς) “⁷“, indeed, “they are to be referred the doctrines which out holy fathers, the councils, and the tradition of the universal (the original word reads: catholic) church” (a phrase introduced by the emperor Constantine I in 325 CE at his council of Nicaea) has always taught “⁸” all of which is easily exposed as a lie by any amateur historian who is fluent in, at least, ancient and early medieval Greek–of which Guth, Vander Plaats and their ilk are ignorant.

The mention of something possibly existing in the past does make it true. Women were considered married—but only if the committed “adultery” that was viewed as robbing a man of his personal property by another man; the woman was punished by stoning (Deuteronomy 22:21 ff, John 8:4,5, that comes from ancient Egypt where the priest On, the prototype for Moses, set down the injunction—and was later adopted by the Remembrancers of Islam) while the offending male at most received several “lashings” with a whip—a barbarity that is part of Islam and Sharia law.

In a vitriolic rant,”⁹” Senator Guth, sitting (metaphorically) on a time-weathered bachelor degree in Agricultural Mechanization at Iowa State University in 1977, with no additional education since then nor any recognizable publications or speeches before an assembly of peers, spread lies and ignorance at the Iowa State Capitol 17 April 2013.

The Republican senator asserted homosexuality hurts him and his family in “multiple ways”–without detailing any of the “multple ways”, repeating the lies of Adolf Hitler who demanded a “purification” of the “German race [sic]” by following the ministry preachifications of the renegade monk Martin Luther, his spiritual adviser, who demanded that Jews be stripped of property, forced to work for the “German people” and be put to death “¹⁰” to avenge a Jesus of the New Testament that no contemporary knew save by tales and rumors from Alexandria to Rome.

The same draconian blood-thirstiness of Luther is easily read in the ranting of Dennis Guth.  For example, Luther’s Section XI of the treatise advises Christians to carry out seven remedial actions. These are

1. for Jewish synagogues and schools to be burned to the ground, and the remnants buried out of sight;

2. for houses owned by Jews to be likewise razed, and the owners made to live in agricultural outbuildings;

3. for their religious writings to be taken away;

4. for rabbis to be forbidden to preach, and to be executed if they do;

5. for safe conduct on the roads to be abolished for Jews;

6. for usury to be prohibited, and for all silver and gold to be removed and “put aside for safekeeping”; and

7. for the Jewish population to be put to work as agricultural slave laborers.

To deprive people, especially the LGBT community, of basic human rights and civil liberties, puts Guth and his wife in the same sewer that Luther wrote from—a vile and unforgiving, uncharitable, holocaust center that cannot be justified even by the biblical illiterate Juan Luis Cipriani Thorne of Lima, Peru, or the bishops and pastors of the Missouri Lutheran Synod or Wisconsin Lutheran Synod who still hail Martin Luther as a man of god and the leader of the major religions in Iowa.

This hatred is not unique to Guth’s fourth senate district in Iowa, but is found in St. Ansgar, Waterloo, and other Iowa cities where tail-gating to a basketball game is far more popular than attending an intellectual debate or reading beyond the pages of Playboy and the tripe issued by Phyllis McAlpin Stewart Schlafly for her Eagle Forum, or the fantasie fabricator Beverly LeHaye’s Concerned Women for America when not measuring contempt in the Left Behind series by her husband Timothy LeHaye.  One only has to attend Ascension Lutheran Church in Waterloo to learn how close the minister is to Luther’s mangled message, or visit College Hill Lutheran in Cedar Falls to find the barbs that Luther stuck in the crown of Jesus that remain penetrating the minds of its congregations.

Guth’s chortling, matching Vander Plaats and his venom-filled wife’s oratory openly expressed desire for genocide of an entire group of people (LGBTs, as I detail in my article on Vander Plaats) “¹¹” prompted an openly gay senator to call the statements “ignorant.” Guth and his wife of 34 years, the sardonic, morose and virulent Margaret (née Campbell), are staunch supporters of Iowa’s notorious homophobe and self-styled Führer: Bob Vander Plaats, and his organized hate group The FAMiLY, when not busy with the Hancock County Pork Producers or libeling those in their community who dare challenge his judgment and wisdom on faith and morals as if he is speaking ex cathedra.

For his open “frankness” unvarnishing his personal hatred for LGBT citizens, Guth received gushing praise from Bob Vander Plaats and his certifiable hate organization The FAMiLY “¹²“. Vander Plaats told the editors of Salon that he believed only in “strong family-oriented” men, such as Gov. Schwarzenegger (R-CA) whose wife divorced him for adultery and bringing a bastard into their home, or Gov. Sanford (R-SC) whose wife also divorced him for adultery and whom Guth catalogued as “family men with (Christian) family values”—before it became public knowledge that both Schwarzenegger and Sanford were/are adulterers and squandered public funds on personal pleasures including prostitutes and housekeepers who bore children to the men who were sperm donors outside of marriage “¹³”

The Guths belong to the Britt Evangelical Free Church (it considers itself a business and offers business services. “¹⁴“. Its theology is Pauline and expresses the Paulinity of the Emperors.  Britt Evangelical Free Church is the ultimate transmogrification if the Gospels by the Emperor Constantine with little reflection on the papyrus of the Sayings of Jesus. “¹⁵”  In fact, it (evangelical churches in general, and Britt Evangelical Free Church in particular) has little to no recognition of the Jesus of the existing canon of imperial-approved Gospels but does match the machinations of the Taliban and venom spewed by contemporary jihadists. The original meaning of the word jihad (جهاد‎) was “inward” or “spritual cleansing”. “¹⁶”

Britt Evangelical Free Church heralds the hate messages of the man that later writers and redactors of Pauline epistles referred to as Saul of Tarsus. Saul was never an “apostle” except through self-proclamation (2 Timothy 1:1; Ephesisans 1:1; Colossians 1:1; his “ministry” was recorded by his friend and scribe in The Book of Acts of the Apostles, but such a record is not found anywhere in any other contemporary account)”¹⁷” that the writers who created his letters accorded this mythological being. While the word “homosexual” does not appear in any literature before 1863, and is not used as a term in psychology until the end of the nineteenth century (it does not appear in any Bible before 1954) it was feared to be a vice of priests and monks that bishops were unable to condemn since there was no word for homosexuality until after Constantine decided what documents would make up the canon of his invented church;”¹⁸” this was not addressed until the Council of Carthage.

The majority of the Bible is a lie. Constantine I burned most of the ancient gospels and numerous epistles in his effort to purge the Church (a word that means “law court”) to make it subservient to the state. In the same manner that Vander Plaats attacks that which he does not know in an effort to stoke the fires of hate and turn Iowa into a Civil War Zone of bloodshed, on the documents for the early Church that Guth, his wife and pastor are totally ignorant of as none read Greek or Latin.  “¹⁹”

Guth, his wife and family are part of the sheep following the ram Vander Plaats. Neither the Guths nor Vander Plaats or his companion, Charles Hurley, are trustworthy sources for any pronouncements especially on matters of religion, human sexuality or the rights of people.  They conveniently forget Acts 10:34, a common trait for those who worship Paul and forget Jesus.

The Bible was the work neither of any god nor any council but by of Eusebius, the Arian bishop of Caesarea.  In 331 CE. Eusebius was not that comfortable in Greek and wrote numerous verses that had a variety of interpretations, such as the line: εν πολυτελως ησκημενοις τευχεσι τρισσα και τετρασσα διαπεμψαντων ημων on the codices that could mean “prepared in three or four volumes”, “sent in three or four boxes”, “prepared in three or four folios”, “sent by three or four couriers, and so forth”. “²⁰”  To trust Constantine’s Bible after he destroyed or had destroyed hundreds of gospels and epistles is to have confidence in a theocrat as mad as Charles Hurley and Bob Vander Plaats.  The Guths, like the rogue religious of the sixteenth century splintered the Bible to meet their own dark designs and ends.

Neither Vander Plaats, Hurley nor Guth are trained theologians. None are competent in any ancient language. All three of this unholy Trinity are unqualified to comment on any passage in any bible focused on theology or ontology. Hermeneutics eludes them.

Vander Plaats was a coach who did obtained a Master and Specialist in Education degrees from Drake University in Des Moines–but none of his course work included Bible or theology. 

Charles Hurley has been licensed to practice law since 1983. He is a road safety campaigner.  On a scale of ten he has a rating of 6.5 as a lawyer “²¹”  His legal experience is not rated as exemplary.  He is not qualified to speak on the Bible nor on human lifestyles, save as a private individual with private readings in scripture. He has no publications and is not an academic. His avocation is with The FAMiLY Leader (Bob Vander Plaats), who, with him, opposes universal human rights and civil liberties.

Not one member of the Guth family has any training in the Bible, and none have a basic knowledge of the man they claim to be Jesus: a man who never married, lived at least with 12 (to 32 or 72 in reality, depending on what text is being read) men, never had a girl friend that is recorded in any records that survived Constantine’s holocaust in 325 CE (although there is a Coptic fragment that details that Jesus had a “wife” (σύζυγος) but that could also be “woman” (γυναίκα) who worked for him as fourth century Coptic it is uncertain. “²²” In the days from the second to fourth centuries words change and could mean “helper” or “servant” or even “slave”.

Jesus let another man rest his head on his chest (John 13:25). Jesus was followed out of the Garden by a naked male youth (Mark 14:51-52), much in keeping with Dio[nysius Longinus] Cassius’ “Rite of Passage”. “²³”

Jesus was not a popular man.  Most saw him as a drunkard and a glutton (Matthew 11:19). “²⁴”  He was known not to show favoritism and to rebuke the judgmental (Matthew 7:1).  Guth, Vander Plaats and Hurley would never have been comfortable in the company of Jesus and would have shouted him down from the mount where Jesus preached his most famous Sermon, for Jesus of the Constantinian Gospels was the antithesis to what the Guth, Vander Plaats and Hurley see and do in the twenty-first century, forgetting the primary scripture of Acts 10:24 (Ἀνοίξας δὲ Πέτρος τὸ στόμα εἶπεν Ἐπ ἀληθείας καταλαμβάνομαι ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν προσωπολήπτης ὁ θεός a plagiarism from Deuteronomy 1:17: לֹא־תַכִּירוּ פָנִים בַּמִּשְׁפָּט כַּקָּטֹן כַּגָּדֹל תִּשְׁמָעוּן לֹא תָגוּרוּ מִפְּנֵי־אִישׁ כִּי הַמִּשְׁפָּט לֵאלֹהִים הוּא וְהַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר יִקְשֶׁה םִכֶּם תַּקְרִבוּן אֵלַי וּשְׁמַעְתִּיו׃), so graphic in the unorthodox rant of Guth in the Iowa Senate.

A freshman Senator, Dennis Guth of Klemme gave a sleazy,  iniquitous and vulgar speech in the Iowa Senate to air his concerns about homosexuality. The raw roars ripped from his throbbing throat as a point of “personal” entitlement enlisted theological thugs from a plethora of organized hate groups, and won the applause of such troglodytes as Phylis Schafly, Bob Vander Plaats, Bryan Fischer, Rush Limbaugh and others whose minds remain in the darkest caves of intelligence deficiency and paucity of learning.

Guth claimed that the Iowa public was “bamboozled” into accepting same-sex marriages as equal to those of heterosexuals,”²⁵” and equating the alleged evils of same-sex marriages as carrying the same risk as second-hand smoke.”²⁶” Out of control with his emotions, Guth gutterized Iowa’s marginalized people, positing: “The media, for the most part, has bamboozled us into thinking that having a relationship outside of the boundaries of monogamous, heterosexual marriage is positive, happy and fulfilling.” Guth groaned ghoulistically, “Movies, television shows, articles and magazines abound with this theme, giving partial information to vulnerable audience: our children.” “²⁷”

Guth said there are “numerous” health and mental problems associated with homosexuality that “ultimately” shorten the lives of gays and lesbians. Guth, expecting people to see in his vocal vomit truth and statistics with citations were cheated; he offerred no proof, cited to references, but cavorted carelessly with the tangled, twisted and tarnished truth that spewed a slurry of accusations that would not fertilize fraternity for thought or thinking based on logic.

Guth’s lies went, initially, unchallenged, but that was because many of his colleagues in the Iowa Senate were shocked into a temporary coma of silence.  Only one standard bearer for equal rights under the law would eventually rise and challenge Guth’s gross inaccuracies. The worse lie levied by Guth is one of hysteric proportions that does more harm to Iowa than any bomb that could be dropped on the dome of the capital building.  It cannot be ignored.  

Guth, without using any precise words or terminology showing that he had studied the issue with any objectivity, preachificated his own ignorance to be the enemy of Iowa. Guth gurgled that all diseases that homosexuals and bisexuals contract can be transmitted to heterosexuals of all ages and both genders rapidly and to a greater degree of infestation and infection.  Guth’s knowledge of immunology is impuissant, incompetent and impotent unfit for any Iowa state Senator to display and makes his tenure torpid and tasteless. It disgraces the state of Iowa.

AIDS is an equal-opportunity virus, and was first discovered not in homosexual men in 1980 as the villanous Jerry Falwell chortled, but among heterosexual women long before Ronald Reagan read from a prepared script to denounce the LGBT community in San Francisco.  AIDS first contemporary discovery dates back to the middle of the nineteenth century when it was chronicled in the papers of Moritz Kaposi (born October 23, 1837 in Kaposvár, Hungary; he died on March 6, 1902 in Vienna, Austria) who was a Hungarian physician and dermatologist. “²⁸”  Even Kaposi knew it had been on the water planet (Earth) for hundreds of generations, but gutting truth Guth tastelessly tattled: “There are health risks that my family incurs because of the increase of sexually transmitted infections that this lifestyle invites. For example, there are more and more medical tests required before giving blood or giving birth.”

Guth’s fabrications, falsehoods and outright lies never stopped as his demonstratable IQ plunged.  Blood tests are used to detect the presence of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the virus that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), in serum, saliva, or urine. “²⁹”

Every minute a female becomes infected with HIV/AIDS, and women make up slightly more than 50% of all HIV/AIDS cases—as women are at a greater risk of heterosexual transmission of HIV, and among lesbians the percentage rate of contraction is far lower (and around 1%). The highest percentage of women with HIV/AIDS is in Africa, while in the Americas it is estimated that 300,000 women above the age of 15 are living with HIV in the United States of America alone with 80% being African American and Hispanic women who have little knowledge of personal hygiene or health care—many are wives of farmers, share needles and drugs, as well as have unprotected sexual intercourse because of the absurd teaching of religious leaders that condoms are against the plan of god and all sperm is sacred and a fertilized egg—that can lead to AIDS—is a “child” at conception, while higher rates exist in Latin American nations “³⁰” The gross stupidity of Guth on HIV/AIDS is overwhelming and will lead to greater contraction and loss of human life “³¹“. Guth fabricated fiction from fact falsifying that “many civilizations have fallen” because the traditional family was not protected.  Hortatorily he harangued that the homosexual lifestyle “is a lie.”  The lie was his. 

Many civilizations that recognized, respected, and granted equal rights and protections to gay men and especially to lesbians (who were seen as spokeswoman of the gods) were far more advanced than any civilization where misogyny, gynophobia and sexism were rampant as seen in the case of the ancient Apiru. Joshua “favored” a prostitute (Joshua 6:25, actually a large whale in the original script) and allowed her to live after his band of cutthroats massacred the people of Jericho as they had earlier in one of the bloddiest holocausts “³²” committed by “the Chosen Ones [Israel]” (Joshua 2:8-10) following a massive earthquake that shook down their city’s walls, but David loved a man “with a love that surpassed the love of a woman” “³³”

Canaan (Palestine/Phoenicia) had a civilization for more than 15,000 years and openly welcomed gay men and lesbians as “divine messengers” from the goddess Asherah (Venus, who was also the senior daughter of Allah, the three are  el-Lat, el-Uzza, and Manat, before the advent of Muhammad. “³⁴”  Canaan fell to the renegade Apiru: mercaneries in Pharaoh’s army who were expelled for vandalism, rape and murder led by a general referred to as Joshua who consorted with prostitutes and engaged in sex with very young girls, similar to Muhammad’s later marriage to seven year old Aisha. The question is, does Guth read ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs?

Rome fell because barbarians invaded the City to secure promised and unpaid wages.”³⁵”  The Romanovs were overthrown because a mad monk (Rasputin) controlled the Tsarina and her children.”³⁶”  The Third Reich fell because of its holocaust that the Allies initially ignored, but ultimately invaded it to save the Jews. Even Edward Gibbons, whom Guth misquotes all the time, declared that the fall of Rome occurred because of “bread and circuses” (from the Latin: panem et circenses) and the rampant attempt by landowner and those with wealth to keep the poor from having a justified share of its economics.”³⁷” 

Guth is Iowa’s version of rank revisionists such as the distortionist David Barton, a pseudo-historian who has plagued Texas schools for too long based on his friendship with Rick Perry (commonly known as Governor Hair) and has made Texas public education contemptable and untrustworthy given Rick Perry’s cherry-picked Board of Education that enthrones incompetence equal to Guth’s gothic garbled theories.  Neither Guth nor Barton is learned in history (nor has learnt history) or economics but blindfold their states in an effort to promote themselves and their stifling academic economic eccentricities that bankrupt their respective states–and I lived for decades in Texas (1977-1997).

In Rome, in the past, as it is in Iowa today, inflation was the greatest problem with an out-of-control government, very similar to the Legislator’s Republican-controlled House in Des Moines where Guth pushes for tax cuts for the wealthy, attempts to increase gun ownership while denying all families equality. By the end of the Empire, it took 68 As to purchase 1 modius of bread “³⁸” but Guth’s obtuse understanding of any ancient language, history and economics, makes one wonder how he won a Senate seat, but he does follow in the footsteps of the cretinous colleagues in the Iowa house who are similar to the do-nothing Roman Senate is setting the stage for Iowa to collapse under its own fetid weight.

Homosexuality was not the cause of the fall of a single civilization in recorded history.  Homosexuality did buttress and strengthen many civilizations: Sparta was known for encouraging “love between men” (Athanaeus, sacrificed to Eros before every battle) as a way to get its soldiers to fight harder to protect their love partners “³⁹” It was also accepted in Rome,”⁴⁰” but under constant verbal and physical attacks from christianos and chrestianos, and seen as not productive, but tolerated.”⁴¹“.  

When Guth is not attack the LGBT community of Iowa, this lethargic legislator is on the war path wrestling with the issue of one of his contributors: the National Rifle Association. Guth’s attacks on sanity equals the mincing of the NRA and its attempt to arm the nation for another Civil War. Guth has repeatedly proposed gun legislation that would allow a person to carry and possess a weapon (SF 252) even if the carrier is a child (who in the proposed legislation is allowed to carry—but not use in a felony—a knife):

9 A person who goes armed with any dangerous weapon with the

10 intent to use without justification such weapon against the

11 person of another commits a class “D” felony. The intent

12 required for a violation of this section shall not be inferred

13 from the mere carrying or concealment of any dangerous weapon

14 itself, including the carrying of a loaded firearm, whether in

15 a vehicle or on or about a person’s body.”⁴²”

That is only a side-interest.  When not running for the Senate it appears that Guth is running for the nonelective post of god–five cans short of a six-pack. Guth claimed that his remarks against homosexuality were inspired by a national event organized by conservative Christian and certified hate group: Focus on the Family.

Called the “Day of Dialogue,” the event was billed as a way to discuss sexuality and marriage. It was created in response to the national “Day of Silence” established by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, during which students pledge not to talk for a day to protest the bullying of gay students. “⁴³”  Guth missed the point, as expected, as he is one of the dimmest bulbs in the chandelier of the Iowa State Legislature.

Guth’s lack of knowledge of English (and its Greek roots: διάλογος) is underwhelming. Dialogue means a free exchange of ideas between persons and opposing viewpoints. Guth sees dialogue as an soap-box opportunity to cast aspersions on those he disagrees with.  Guth ranted: “If I saw someone going the wrong way on a one-way street, I would make every effort to stop and redirect them.”

Guth added: “Simply put, it saves lives to have honest communication not only about the sexually transmitted diseases that shorten lifespan, but also about the deep loneliness that accompanies a life based on youth, beauty and sex.” Homosexuality does not lead to loneliness; indifference, rejection, bullying leads to loneliness and the two greatest villains against homosexuals are religion (especially Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam), and the family where the family “⁴⁴” rejected or attempted to control the natural instinct and normal sexual desires based on antiquated and false religious thought “⁴⁵” and teachings “⁴⁶“. What condemnative religion does is lead to self-debasement, frustration, and suicide “⁴⁷”

Senator Matt McCoy, a Democrat from Des Moines and first openly gay Iowa State Senator, responded a few minutes later: “I was frankly just a little bit taken aback by some of the things that I heard today, as I know some of my colleagues were as well.” McCoy disputed Guth’s argument that homosexuality, like second-hand smoke, is a health danger to heterosexuals. McCoy argued: “Much of what you heard today on the floor of the senate is warmed over rhetoric that has been invented by the Christian right, extreme groups … What I heard today was ignorant and I know where it came from and I think that I am not gay by choice. I am not gay by choice, but I choose not to be ignorant.”  The two men made their comments at the opening of the senate’s work day, when senators are given an opportunity to speak on whatever topic they choose during “points of personal privilege.” “⁴⁸”

Guth continued his protestation: “There are health risks that my family incurs because of the increase of sexually transmitted infections that this lifestyle invites. For example, there are more and more medical tests required before giving blood or giving birth.” This is another lie, as defined by the medical staff at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, and other hospitals I contacted. Blood tests have always been required before birth to ensure the viability of the pregnancy. Blood tests have been routine, for decades, to make certain the mother is healthy, and most are required. Maternal serum blood tests, that take place in the first trimester, include:

• pregnancy-associated plasma protein screening (PAPP-A) – a protein produced by the placenta in early pregnancy. Abnormal levels are associated with an increased risk for chromosome abnormality.
• human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) – a hormone produced by the placenta in early pregnancy. Abnormal levels are associated with an increased risk for chromosome abnormality. When used together as first trimester screening tests, nuchal translucency screening and maternal blood tests have a greater ability to determine if the fetus might have a birth defect, such as Down syndrome, trisomy 18, or trisomy 13.

In the second trimester, there are also blood tests (none related to AIDS/HIV):

• alpha-fetoprotein screening (AFP) – a blood test that measures the level of alpha-fetoprotein in the mothers’ blood during pregnancy. AFP is a protein normally produced by the fetal liver and is present in the fluid surrounding the fetus (amniotic fluid), and crosses the placenta into the mother’s blood. The AFP blood test is also called MSAFP (maternal serum AFP). Abnormal levels of AFP may signal the following:
• open neural tube defects (ONTD) such as spina bifida or Down syndrome or other chromosomal abnormalities or defects in the abdominal wall of the fetus or twins (more than one fetus is making the protein)
• a miscalculated due date, as the levels vary throughout pregnancy
• hCG – human chorionic gonadotropin hormone (a hormone produced by the placenta)
• estriol – a hormone produced by the placenta
• inhibin – a hormone produced by the placenta

Guth might opposes these tests with his record of hysterics and irrational opposition to abortion, but those born with Down syndrome and chromosomal abnormalities tend to have short lives and numerous physical discomfort.

When Guth pounds his thread-bare war drums against same-sex marriages, he preachificates that same-sex marriages are “unnatural” and not according to “god’s plan”.  Marriage is not natural: no animals marry; marriage is not biblical except in badly translated redactions. The closest one can come to “marriage” is the phrase “that two became as one in the flesh”: they had sex–but nowhere does it spell out that the “two became as one” were of opposite genders, and King David claimed that he was “one” with Jonathan in 2 Samuel and in I Samuel 18:21, Saul (the father of Jonathan) referred to David as his son-in-law.  According to Guth’s bible: Lamech had two wives (Genesis 4:19); Esau had three wives (Genesis 26:34 & 28:9); Jacob had four wives (Genesis 29:28 & 30:4-9); Gideon had many wives (Judges 8:30); and Abijah had 14 wives (II Chronicles 13:21); then there were the Levirate marriages where a brother had to marry his brother’s widow and produce children “in the image” of the dead brother (Deuteronomy 25:5-10).

There is no such plan in any holy book of any religion. Homosexuality is natural (it is found in every species)”⁴⁹” normal (it occur regularly within all species), and good if the homosexual accepts the reality that sexuality is a part of being human and self-actualizes with that acceptance.

Not everyone agrees with Guth who speaks only for the most marginalized of evangelical extremists.  The majority of Iowans are tolerant, united, informed, and support same-sex marriage and the right of all people to basic human rights and civil liberties. Only the most hate-filled condemn that which may pastors, priests, rabbis, and spokespersons of hate groups are secretly participants: noteable homophobes Ted Haggard, George A. Rekers, Richard Curtis, Roy Ashburn, Albert Odulele, Mark Foley, Christopher Lee, (Bishop) Eddie Long, Jim West, Paul Babeu, Ken Mehlman and Larry Craig were unceremoniously forced out of their respective closets since they were so darn full of skeletons “⁵⁰“.  The more anti-gay / homophobic the speaker is, the more certain it is that the speaker is gay. “⁵¹”

As Shakespeare noted “⁵²“, those who protest too much tend to be, in most cases, the individuals for whom they express objections or revulsion “⁵³“.

This may easily be the reality with reparative therapy charlatan Marcus Bachmann, Bob Vander Plaats, Charles Hurley and Dennis Guth.  What is a regular occurance is those who are homosexual run on a platform to stop homosexuality, outlaw homosexuality, execute homosexuals (as with the vows of Bradlee Dean [actual surname is Smith]) and, like Scott Lively of Abiding Truth Ministries, do it in the name of their god who seeks innocent blood as commanded of the legendary Abraham who was to slay his son: the foundation for the Passion of Jesus.

A married couple who live in Lake Mills, Iowa: Heather Yeoman and Rachel Olson, Lake Mills responded to Guth’s claim that homosexual love is a lie that was reprinted in One Iowa on-line: “It is clear that Senator Guth, our so-called ‘representative’ does not value our family nor the love and commitment we have for one another. I am disgusted and ashamed of my Senator for spreading such ignorant and hurtful lies about our family and countless other Iowa families. Make no mistake, Senator—our marriage and our love is not a lie.” “⁵⁴”

The same was true with heterosexual wife and mother, Joy M. Newcom, District 4 resident from Forest City, who declared: “As an Iowan, a former educator and a mother, I am ashamed of my Senator and his horrific comments about the LGBT community. LGBT people are a part of my extended family. They are my friends and have been my coworkers. They are students I have taught and continue to respect for the manner in which they live their lives today. These comments, parroted from erroneous ideology from anti-gay groups, are beyond outrageous. They are dangerous lies.

“Senator Guth, we, the Newcom family, are your constituents and your fellow Iowans. You claim to be our public servant, but you are hurting our community by spreading lies posed as science. You are breeding a culture of injustice for people we live with and work alongside. Please stop. You were not elected to legislate your morality or to spread falsehoods.”

Guth listens to no one (not even Jesus or his god, as Jesus did not say one word about homosexuality; those who condemn it in the current redacted bible are ancient priests of the tribe of Apiru who fought for the Akkadians in Egypt “⁵⁵“, or the letter write named Paul of whom their is no proof).  The people Guth listens to are those who fund his political ambitions, such as Vander Plaats hate groups, Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum, Beverly LeHaye who crafted Concerned Women for America, and the NRA. Guth has a sordid and sad history during his 85th legislative tenure. He sponsored the following bills:

SF 85: requiring proof of identification and proof of residence in order to register to vote or to vote, establishing a criminal offense for falsely swearing certain oaths and affidavits, and including applicability provisions

SF113: A bill for an act relating to the exemption of gaming floors from the prohibitions of the smokefree air Act.

SF 254: Unlimited gun ownership, use, and prohibits federal law superceding state law:

15 who enforces or attempts to enforce any federal order, law,

16 or regulation relating to firearms, firearm accessories, or

17 ammunition owned or manufactured commercially or privately in 18 this state and that remains exclusively within this state is 19 guilty of a class “D” felony.

20 3. The attorney general may defend a citizen of this

21 state who is prosecuted by the United States government for a

22 violation of any federal law relating to the manufacture, sale,

23 transfer, or possession of a firearm, firearm accessory, or

24 ammunition owned or manufactured commercially or privately in

25 this state and that remains exclusively within this state.

26 4. Any federal order, law, or regulation created on or after

27 the effective date of this Act shall be unenforceable in this

28 state if the federal order, law, or regulation attempts to do

29 any of the following:

30 a. Prohibit or restrict ownership of a semiautomatic firearm

31 or any magazine of a firearm.

32 b. Require any firearm, magazine, or other firearm accessory

33 to be registered in any manner. “⁵⁶”

This bill makes Iowa supreme over the federal branches of government and allows states’ rightists to separate from the Union if Iowa lawmakers do not like federal legislation. By definition, this is treason–and led to Civil War in 1860.

SF 277: A bill for an act relating to an exemption to the compulsory education and competent private instruction provisions for certain persons.

SJR 5: A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Iowa specifying marriage between one man and one woman as the only legal union that is valid or recognized in the state.

SCR 2: A concurrent resolution claiming state sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over certain mandates imposed on the states by the federal government.

SR 2: A resolution supporting a free, independent, and secure Israel.”⁵⁷”

SR 11: A resolution opposing the decision of the International Olympic Committee to end wrestling as an Olympic event.

Guth is an elected official of the State of Iowa. He has no right to privacy and every obligation to answer not only his district’s questions, but also citizens of Iowa.

At one time I was proud to have been born in Iowa.  I was proud of the excellent education I obtained at Iowa State Teachers College and State College of Iowa under the instruction of Donald Howard, John Eiklor, Howard Jones, and others; and gratified to have Harold Bernhard on my thesis committee along with Howard Jones and John Eiklor when SCI became the University of Northern Iowa.  My only regret was they could not offer me the studies leading to the doctorates I wanted, so I went to other fine universities.

Iowa had been a good state.  We did not have the rabble and the illiterate that now sits vegetating in the Iowa Legislature.  We had father and son Culvers as governors, we had great Senators, and fine Representatives at the state and federal level. Today that is gone with the inclusion of the undereducated and the perrenial predatorial governor (Terry Branstad) who cared more for office than his son’s welfare, leading the youth to kill an elderly couple while driving drunk–and after the fatal accident was airlifted to Cedar Rapids while the couple died slowly in their vehicle.

Iowa has changed for the worse.  I urge all Iowans contribute to contribute time, money and personal strength to retire the worse in the Iowa Senate: Dennis Cuth. Support anyone who challenges him, as Iowa deserves better than a miscreant missionary of the radical right who would create a theocracy in Iowa and blindly follows Vander Plaats and Hurley who never met Jesus and market religion.  Iowa needs real education–not the fraud of “home schooling” or teachers placed in positions because of political patronage. That is too much like Rick Perry’s Texas theocracy, or worse, the lunacy of Louisiana of Bobby Jindal where even a young student, 17-year old Zach Kopplin gained the support of Nobel Laureats in science and silenced Michelle Bachmann and ended the reign of terror pushed through the state’s legislature. When it comes to human rights, Iowa is at the nadir with North and South Dakota and closing in on Alabama and Georgia.  Guth is pushing Iowa from A Place to Grow to a Place to Go From. 

Iowa needs more patriots like Donna Red Wing who fight for equality, justice, and human rights and civil liberties for all Iowans with a clarion voice similar to that of Mike McCoy and those brave enough to counter the radical right and their plans to turn Iowa into the Fourth Reich with Vander Plaats as its leader and Guth goose-stepping behind him.  The forces of darkness have descended again on Iowa, and an age of blind-faith in nothing tangible or provable is dawning. Only true Iowans who believe in democracy can change this fate that waits for all as the illiterate take over the legislator, occupy the governor’s mansion and head the Board of Regents turning fine institutes of learning into towers of igorance.
